The Benevon Major Gifts Laboratory

The Benevon Major Gifts Lab is a two-day, hands-on lab focused on designing and practicing specific cultivation and asking strategies for all the major donors you are planning to ask for substantial gifts over the next year. This is an optional component of the advanced workshops (301, 401, and 501), but rigorous practice of these skills is at the heart of sustainable funding.

Prerequisites:
If your team decides to send participants to the lab, please note the following:

  • The Major Gifts Laboratory is available only to those team members who have attended an advanced Benevon Workshop (301, 401, or 501) as part of a full team. No new team members may join your team at this laboratory.
  • The Major Gifts Laboratory is available only to those team members who are enrolled in the Five-Year Sustainable Funding Program.
  • The Major Gifts Laboratory is not available to teams after their fifth workshop of the Five-Year Sustainable Funding Program.
  • All participants at the lab must be (or plan to be) directly involved in major gifts cultivation and asking.
  • Each organization may only attend one Major Gifts Laboratory per year.

Team Requirements:
Your team must consist of at least your CEO, Executive Director, or equivalent position, and a board member; in addition, the Team Leader is recommended.

Costs:
There is a food and materials fee of $300 per participant.
