Benevon 501: Generating Sustainability

Now focused on their sustainable funding objectives which are clearly in sight, 501 groups work on enhancing every aspect of their strategy to bring in major gifts, making "course corrections" on existing strategy, and further customizing and integrating every aspect of the model so it lives on in their organization.

Your team will learn to:

  • Refine and customize a detailed endowment-building strategy for your organization.
  • Cultivate and ask twenty major donors for significant gifts to fulfill on your endowment strategy.
  • Structure your team and board to sustain the model going forward.
  • "Missionize" any lingering special events.
  • Cultivate donors.
  • Ask for major gifts.
  • Build and renew your team and board.

Benevon 501 includes:

  • Two rigorous, fast-paced days of classroom sessions
  • Five individual team coaching calls

Prerequisites:
This workshop is designed specifically for organizations that have:

  • Enrolled in the Five-Year Sustainable Funding Program.
  • Attended the Benevon 101, Benevon 201, Benevon 301, and Benevon 401 Workshops.
  • Met our specific benchmarks for financial results achieved prior to attending 501.

Team Composition:

  • The 501 workshop is for teams of six to eight people from the board, staff and volunteers of a single organization that has already been using the model successfully.
  • Your team should consist of two to three staff members; two to three board members; and two to three additional volunteers.
  • One staff member must be your CEO, Executive Director, or equivalent position; this person can't be your Team Leader.
  • One development staff should also be on the team.
  • At least three team members must have attended either the full two-day 101, 201, 301, OR 401 workshop, if not all four workshops.
  • At least two team members (in addition to the first three mentioned above) must have attended the 401 workshop.
  • Once you have met the two requirements above, you are eligible to have new team members attend the workshop, but they must have attended at least the New Team Member Intensive, if not a full two-day workshop.

Team Benchmarks:
Before attending 501, a team must:

  • Have fifty to one hundred Multiple-Year Giving Society Donors.
  • Have a Leadership or Challenge Gift that is equal to 25% of their total Ask Event results OR equal to their five-year pledge at the highest giving level (whichever is greater).

Benevon New Team Member Intensive:
To bring new staff, board, and volunteers up to speed prior to joining your team for the 501 Workshop, we offer the Benevon New Team Member Intensive.

This rigorous session is offered in a one-day live in-person format as well as in a three-hour live online format. Both formats provide the essential nuts and bolts of the Benevon Model for new individual team members so they can join their team and participate in the implementation of their organization's current Benevon plan.
